The Open Day is an initiative of the Vice Chancellor and the Board members of University of Cape Coast which was officially launched on Wednesday, 18 October 2017.
The Open Day is characterized by various schools, colleges, faculties, and departments gathering at an open place to exhibit variety of programmes and their respective activities they undertake.
This year’s Open Day which marks the maiden of such an event was organized at the forecourt of Sam Jonah Library (Previously known as UCC Main Library) on UCC campus.
Confucius Institute at University of Cape Coast, like other departments and faculties, successfully participated and exhibited variety of its programs and its activities.
On the display were Chinese cultural artefacts, Confucius books, Chinese Language course materials, posters, brochures, flyers of upcoming programs, etc. The event was effectively used to reintroduce the Confucius Institutes’ main mandate (to promote Chinese language and culture) to the participants of the program. It was also used to invite more students to enrol in the ongoing Chinese language training on UCC campus and other sister institutions. It was also used to discuss the Confucius Institutes’ scholarship program to attendees.
Key personalities of the university, including the vice chancellor, the provost, the registrar and his deputies, the Dean of students, HODs and Deans of various department, Chiefs and opinion leaders of the university surrounding communities, UCC Students, and students from other tertiary and second cycle institutions grazed the occasion.
