The China Director of Ciucc Prof. Hu Liangcai Delivers a Public Lecture on Study Abroad and Scholarship Opportunities in China, at Cape Coast Technical University
On Thursday, 8th February, 2018, Prof. Hu Liangcai delivered a public lecture on the topic ''Study Abroad and Scholarship Opportunities in China'' at Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU), Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana.
The lecture was the second of its kind to be organized by CIUCC in collaboration with the Directorate of Language and Development Center, CCTU and the Students Representative Council (S.R.C) of the University. The event was chaired by the Dean of Students of CCTU, Prof. Owusu-Mintah. Also in attendance were Prof. Ishmael Mensah(Ghana Director of CIUCC), Mr. Kwame Tenadu (Director of Language and Development Center, CCTU) as well as other Senior Members and Junior Members of CCTU, President of Students Representative Council, (S.R.C) and other studentsfrom various departments of the University.
Student of CCTUIn his opening speech the Chairman stressed on the importance of learning Chinese Language and Culture and encouraged students to actively partake in Chinese Language Studies. Prof. Ishmael Mensah also encouraged the students to enroll on the Chinese Language and Culture programme in view of the increasing Chinese interest in Africa. He emphasized CIUCC’s willingness to sustain the Chinese training center at CCTU.
Staff of CCTU and CIUCC DirectorsAddressing the audience, the guest speaker, Prof.Hu Liangcai elaborated on various Chinese Government and Confucius Institute Scholarships available to African students, indicating that students have to pass the HSK Test in order to access most of the scholarships. He also spoke about Chinese Bridge and the Chinese Spring festival. He said through these programmes, China is further deepening it’s longstanding cultural, social, economic and political cooperation with Africa as a whole and Ghana in particular. He concluded by reiterating the fact that the existence of Confucius Institute in Cape Coast is to provide a bridge of cultural exchange between China and Ghana.
