CHINESE LANGUAGE CURRICULUM development

From the 14th to the 16th  of April, the Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast held a training session on curriculum development for primary and secondary schools in Ghana. The two-day training session was organized for all Institute teachers, including directors from Ghana and China. Experts from the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) and the University of Cape Coast were also invited to enlighten the teachers on curriculum development. These experts included Mr. Reginald George Quartey, Ag. Head of the Curriculum Directorate; Reverend Prof Kankam Boadu, Vice-Dean of the School of Graduate Studies; Prof Kwame Osei Kwarteng, Provost College of Humanities and Legal Studies and Chairman of NACCA; and Prof Charles Adabo Oppong, Head of the Department of Art Education.

The lecture topics included “curriculum development,” “assessment and its practices in the teaching and learning environment,” “the curriculum development process,” and “career development and curriculum development issues.” Various experts and teachers discussed related issues and put forward different opinions.

This training has inspired many aspects of the Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast, including the selection of scientific research topics, in-depth teaching research, and the development of Chinese language curriculum for primary and secondary schools in Ghana.
