Celebrating the beauty of culture in promoting the learning of Chinese

On Friday, March 3, 2023, the University Primary School organized a Chinese cultural event themed “Celebrating the beauty of culture in promoting the learning of Chinese”. The purpose of the event was to promote the excellent Chinese culture and language, understand the profound Chinese culture, promote the reform and innovation of Chinese teaching and learning, and improve the knowledge of Chinese culture of all teachers and students.

Present at the event were the Ghana Director, Prof. Ishmael Mensah, China Director, Prof OU Yamei, Headmistress of University Primary School Mrs. Georgina Agblobitse, Assistant Headmaster of University Primary School, Mr. Francis Kyeremeh, Chinese teachers and students of CIUCC, and teachers of the University Primary School.
The event was marked with a series of activities and performances by the pupils of University Primary School and a lion dance performance by the martial arts team from CIUCC

In his speech, Prof. Ishmael Mensah, the Ghana Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast, congratulated West End International School and reiterated the benefits of learning Chinese to Ghanaian students. He admonished the pupils to take their Chinese lessons seriously in order to tap into the opportunities that the Chinese language has to offer.

Professor OU Yamei, the China Director also expressed her appreciation to the management of the school for their continuous collaboration with CIUCC towards teaching and learning the Chinese language and Chinese culture, as well as the care and support given to Chinese teachers posted to the school. She added that CIUCC would continue to support Chinese teaching and learning at West End International School.
The event was marked with a series of performances by the pupils of West End International School, and a lion dance performance by the martial arts team from CIUCC.
