The Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast’s (CI UCC) mandate is to promote friendship between China and Ghana through Chinese language and culture education. The Institute believes in discovering talents and giving young people a chance to showcase their talent and knowledge of the Chinese Language and Culture to the world and to live their dreams. One such good platform is the Chinese Bridge Competition, held annually.
This year, the 22nd edition of the competition was held. Students from CI UCC competed against students from the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana (CI UG) and KNUST in the grand finale of the Ghana region. At the end of the competition, CI UCC won big, with two third prizes, a second prize, a special prize, and a first prize. The first prize winner, Daniel Sakyi Ansah, a Level 300 student, won a ticket to participate in Global Finals in China later this year.
At the awards ceremony held at CI UCC on June 30th, the Directors praised the awardees for their remarkable achievements and urged them toward greater heights. It is hoped that young Ghanaians will take advantage of opportunities such as the Chinese Bridge Competition to better themselves and become cultural ambassadors.
