Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast, on the 20th of August 2022, successfully held its first YCT Examination with a total number of 126 candidates participating. The examination was organized in two different centers, namely the Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast and Penuel International school. A total of 71 students registered from Penuel International School, and the remaining 55 came from Creative Arts Academy.
Appropriate COVID-19 prevention measures were put in place during the exams. All staff and students were required to adhere to strict COVID-19 rules and regulations. Candidates were only allowed in after they had followed the protocols.
The Youth Chinese Test (YCT) is an international standardised Chinese language test directed at examining the Chinese proficiency of non-native primary and secondary school students. The Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast will continue to promote the YCT test and provide opportunities for Chinese language learners of different ages and levels to learn Chinese. The introduction of this test into primary and secondary schools, will further stimulate the interest of Ghanaian students in learning Chinese, enhance their confidence in learning Chinese, and promote the study of Chinese.
