The Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast successfully conducted its second Youth Chinese Test (YCT) on Saturday, May 13th, 2023, with a total of 106 candidates participating in levels 1 and 2. The examination took place at two different centers: the Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast and Penuel International School. Out of the candidates, 23 students registered from Penuel International School, 52 from the University Primary School, and the remaining 31 from West End International School.
To ensure that students understood the content and structure of the test, the teachers of the Confucius Institute provided them with training and guidelines on how to approach the examination. Equipped with this knowledge, students entered the exam room confidently on the day of the test.
Parents demonstrated unwavering support by ensuring their children arrived at the test center on time. The Institute supplied the candidates with necessary materials, such as erasers and 2B pencils, and ensured that each student had a conducive examination environment.
The Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast remains committed to promoting the YCT test and providing opportunities for Chinese language learners of all ages and proficiency levels. Introducing this test to primary and secondary schools aims to further stimulate the interest of Ghanaian students in learning Chinese, boost their confidence in the language, and encourage the study of Chinese overall.
