A delegation from the Confucius Institute of the University of Cape Coast (CIUCC) led by Professor Ishmael Mensah the Ghana Director the paid a courtesy call on the Headmistress of the University Primary School, Mrs. Georgina Aglobitse and the Dean of Centre for International Education, Professor K.A. Boakye on Thursday, January 14, 2021. The delegation first visited the University Primary School where they were warmly received by the Headmistress. Professor Ishmael Mensah, indicated that the visit was to deepen the relationship between the University Primary School the Confucius Institute and also to formally introduce Professor Zhou Guiping the New China Director of the Institute at to the headmistress of University Primary School.
Professor Zhou Guiping expressed her appreciation to the Headmistress for her continuous support to the Institute especially with regards to Chinese learning and teaching. She stated, the institute looks forward to further collaboration with the University Primary School. She stated that, there are exchange programmes and scholarship opportunities for interested students and staff who could undergo training to become Chinese teachers. She pledged the institute’s unwavering commitment to support the University Primary School for mutual benefits.
The Headmistress of the University Primary School, Mrs. Georgina Aglobitse, appreciated the cordial relationship between her school and the and urged for more fruitful collaborations between the two institutions. She indicated that, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, there would be some major changes in the timetable of the school but assured the directors that Chinese classes would still be held albeit on a reduced scale.
The Ghana Director, Professor Ishmael Mensah promised to assist the school to access funds allocated for the establishment of the Confucius Classroom project.
At the Centre for International Education, the delegation was officially received by Professor K.A Boakye and Mrs. Audria Dankwa , the Senior Assistant Registrar. Professor Ishmael Mensah officially introduced Professor Zhou Guiping as the New China Director of the Institute. Professor Zhou Guiping who was a Director of International Education of Hunan City University indicated that she looked forward to greater collaboration between the Centre and the Confucius Institute. The two institutions agreed to collaborate further in the areas of International Education and processing of Immigration documents of Chinese teachers and students.
The Dean of Centre for International Education, Professor K.A. Boakye also thanked the delegation for their visit and promised to work together with the directors for the smooth running of the Confucius Institute.
