Confucius Institute at University Cape Coast held the second anniversary of the operation and the Confucius Institute Day celebration

On the 27th September, 2018 Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast held its second anniversary celebration
The program which was held at the Main Auditorium of the University of Cape Coast was graced by the Central Regional Minister, Mr. Kwamena Duncan, chiefs from Cape Coast; Nana Kwaku Ennu III Apewosika/Kokoado Hen and Nana Fatoho II Twafo Hen.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast was represented by the Dean of Agricultural and Natural Sciences, Prof. Elvis Asare Bediako.
Prof. Sam Amoah, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Pof. Dora Edu-Buandoh, Dean of College of Humanities and Legal Studies of the University of Cape Coast were also present.

Liu Zongshuai, General Manager of Ghana Development Co., Ltd., Li Wei, General Manager of Keda (Ghana) Ceramics Co., Ltd. were also in attendance.

Prof. Ishmael Mensah, Ghana Director of the Confucius Institute at University Cape Coast and Prof. Hu Liangcai, China Director of the Confucius Institute at University Cape Coast, attended the ceremony. Other attendees were, officials from Ghana Immigration and Police Service, and Mr. Wang Shiting, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana sent a congratulatory letter.
Students of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, and the students of the Confucius Institute participated, totaling more than 700 people.

In the celebration, Professor Ishmael Mensah, Ghana Director thanked Hanban and the Chinese Cooperatives in his welcome speech.
He said Hunan City College and University of Cape Coast supported the work of the Confucius Institute and encouraged students to seize the opportunities.
Prof. Hu read a congratulatory letter from the Ambassador, Wang Shiting and delivered a speech. He talked about the establishment of the Confucius Institute at University of Cape Coast in the past two years. After the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, China’s “One Belt, One Road” strategy will enable more African countries to receive benefits. China-Africa relations will be closer, encouraging Ghanaian students to seize historical opportunities and take advantage of Confucius Institutes. The platform will add to the friendly relationship between China and Ghana.

The Regional Minister, Mr. Kwamena Duncan, said in his speech that China has many advantages and advanced experience worthy of Ghana to learn and draw from on historical and cultural perspectives, economic development and education cooperation.
Outstanding insights have affirmed the importance of cultural exchanges for the friendship between the two countries.
The dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, Professor Sam Amu pointed out that Confucius Institute at University of Cape Coast is the fastest growing college in the College of Humanities Law, which is in Chinese.
It is closely related to the efficiency and time-oriented concept. I hope that Ghanaian students can learn Chinese.
I can also learn about Chinese culture.

The Year’s documentary led the audience to witness the growth of the Confucius Institute at University of Cape Coast and appreciate its flourishing.
The exuberant vitality also opened the curtain of this celebration. “Three Character Classics” reading, Chinese biography, the performances of the instrument, African drums, and Tai Chi performances made the atmosphere cheerful.
Some students from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China joined in and sang leisurely Chengdu.

There was an exhibition in addition to the indoor stage performances. Twelve (12) large exhibition panels were displayed on the corridor which presented the achievements of the Confucius Institute at University of Cape Coast to the audience for the two years they have been in existence. The guests visited it and praised the achievements of the Confucius Institute.

The Confucius Institute at University of Cape Coast has been in operation since September 2016 and now has 13 teaching points.
The number of people enrolled in learning Chinese has reached 8,000, of which five have already included Chinese.

In the curriculum system, the number of Chinese language enrolled in the curriculum system has reached more than 4,500.
This celebration is a summary of the work of the Confucius Institute in the past two years, and it is also publicity. It is a new beginning. I believe that with the support of a strong motherland, the development of the Confucius Institute at University of Cape Coast will be faster and better.
