The Confucius Institute at UCC celebrated the “2022 Chinese Spring Festival” on the 28th of January, 2022, at 2:00P.m. The event which took place at the Naana Opoku Agyeman Auditorium (Amissah Arthur Language Center) of the University of Cape Coast was marked by Chinese cultural performances.
The Spring Festival is an important traditional festival in China. The program was aimed at offering the people of Cape Coast an opportunity to experience China’s unique culture while enhancing the local influence of the Confucius Institute.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was recorded for replay on social media. During the recording, all COVID-19 protocols were observed to ensure the safety of participants. The venue was disinfected and the temperature of participants was checked.
To get the program started the hosts; Ms. Grace Mawusi and Dr. Isaac Ibrahim gave a brief introduction to the Spring Festival and called on the Ghana Director, Prof Ishmael Mensah to give his opening remarks. He officially welcomed everyone for taking time out of their busy schedules to be a part of the program. This was followed by a series of performances as follows:
- Song by directors and the teachers of CIUCC “GONG XI FACAI”《恭喜发财》.
- Allegro by Akwasi and Ali,
- Dance performance by Joseph Kyeremanten and Co “DO YOU WANT TO DANCE”《你要跳舞吗?》
- Comedy by Meshack Essuman and Co.
- Choreography by pupils of Creative Academy “HAPPY NEW YEAR”《新年好》
- Song by National Service Personnel of CIUCC “FRIEND” 《朋友》
- Opera by Grace Mawusi Owusuwaah
- Martial arts performance by students of CIUCC led by Enoch Essel
- Song performance by level 200 and 300 students “MEET IN BEIJING”《相约北京》
- Song by directors and teachers of CIUCC “UNFORGETTABLE TONIGHT”《难忘今宵》
Prof. Ou Yamei gave the closing address and thanked everyone for coming, afterward group photos were taken and the event came to its successful end.
