The opening ceremony of the Chinese Visa Application Centre in Accra was held on 10 August 2023. The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Lu Kun,  the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana Mavis Nkansah Boadu, the President of the Ghana Federation of Chinese Societies Mr. Tang Hong and a representative of the visa application center Xu Douping attended the ceremony. Also present were officials of relevant departments of the Ghanaian government, representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises, and overseas Chinese groups in Ghana.

As a promoter of the Chinese Language and Culture and China-Ghana friendship, the Confucius Institute was invited to the event and represented by Prof. Ou Yamei, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast (CIUCC), and some faculty members.

In his remarks, Ambassador Lu Kun urged the Visa Application Centre to be service-oriented and make positive efforts to facilitate people-to-people exchanges between China and Ghana.
