On August 1,2023, Professor Emmanuel Amo Ofori, the new Ghanaian Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast (CIUCC), officially assumed office. He succeeded Prof. Ishmael Mensah, who had spent 6 years at the Institute.

On 8th August 2023, Prof. Ofori toured the CIUCC teachings centers in Kasoa and Swedru. The schools visited include Tillybert Montessori, West End International School, Penuel International School, Crownstar College, and Greenfields School. In the company of CIUCC administrators and teachers, the tour was to afford the new director the opportunity to familiarize himself with workings of the Institute and the centers. Meetings with principals and directors of the various schools proved fruitful and the Prof. Ofori congratulated the heads of the schools for their good work and assured them of his support to help achieve the goals of the institute. The heads also promised to work hand in hand with the Confucius Institute, UCC, to promote the learning and teaching of Chinese in Ghana.
