THE CHINA-DIRECTOR OF CONFUCIUS INSTITUTE AT UNIVERSITY OF CAPE COAST AND THE CENTRAL REGIONAL POLICE COMMANDER DISCUSS HOW TO SET UP A CHINESE LANGUAGE CENTER AT THE REGIONAL POLICE HEADQUATERS
On 19th June, 2017, Prof. Hu Liangcai visited The Central Regional Police Commander and the Deputy Regional Commander at the Regional Commander’s Office. The Deputy Regional Commander welcomed Prof. Hu on behalf of his superior and indicated that they have been waiting for a meeting like this to discuss about the establishment of a Chinese Language Center at the headquarters.
Pof. Hu responded with an introduction of himself and the Confucius Institute. He mentioned the progressive cooperation between Ghana and China. He also stated that China is the largest trading partner of Ghana in the whole world, and Ghana at the moment, has the highest number of students that are studying in China among all African countries. He further indicated that the Institute is willing to establish a center at the headquarters and start classes if only at least 30 people are ready to register and join the classes. The students will choose the number of times and hours they want to meet in a week for the classes.

In Prof. Hu also spoke about the HSK training and test. He stated that the students who will join the classes can write the HSK test, which will give them the opportunity for a full or half Scholarship in BA Chinese in China. He also spoke about the 3 weeks Summer Camp in China which the Institute is organizing for 20 students to go to China. The trip gives a full scholarship upon arrival in China to all participants, therefore the students will only have to pay for their international ticket and Visa fee.
After Prof. Hu’s speech, the Deputy Regional Commander commended Prof. Hu for his speech and stated that the station is willing to have the Chinese center so that all the members of the security services in the region can attend. He also suggested that they will like to have 6 hours classes per week if the center commence.
The Regional Commander added that there will be a general meeting the following week Wednesday, 28th June, 2017 for all officers in the region, and therefore Prof. Hu is invited to give a lecture about Confucius Institute at the meeting so that the officers can also have an idea about the Institute and inform their members about the Institute. He added that the station will like to have a copy of Confucius Institute’s MOU so that they can review for further arrangements.
