CIUCC JOINS GHACHIFA TO COMMEMORATE THE 61ST ANNIVERSARY OF THE SIGNING OF THE GHANA CHINA FRIENDSHIP TREATY

On 18th August 2022, Prof OU Yamei, Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast (CIUCC), and Mr. Charles Delali Adegah, a Chinese teacher at the institute, represented the institute at the ceremony organized by the Ghana-China Friendship Association (GHACHIFA) to commemorate the signing of the treaty of friendship between Ghana and China at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra.


As part of the celebration, GHACHIFA honoured Ambassador Kojo Amoo-Gottfried, the founder and life patron of GHACHIFA. A citation of honour was presented to Ambassador Amoo- Gottfried in recognition of his contribution to the friendly relationship between China and Ghana.
Mr. Tang Hong read a keynote message on behalf of the Chinese ambassador to Ghana, Mr Lu Kun, stated that relations between Ghana and China have grown rapidly with the Chinese providing development assistance to Ghana and Ghana supporting China globally.

In his remarks, Mr. Lu Kun praised the role that GHACHIFA played in deepening the time-honoured friendship and fostering genuine and dynamic people-to-people diplomacy between the two countries.
He said, “there is no such thing as a long distance between bosom friends”. Even though China and Ghana are geographically far apart, our longstanding friendship has endured and will continue to flourish in the years to come,” since it is rooted in shared historical experiences and practical cooperation.


Dr. Charles Dwamena, Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Tang Palace CEO, President of Ghana Association of Chinese Societies and Ghana Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Tang Hong, Ambassador Anani Demuyakor, and other dignitaries graced this wonderful occasion.
