Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast goes to Takoradi to research

On the 25th of August, the third batch of researchers visited Top Tier A schools in Takoradi, in the Western Region of Ghana. The team was led by Dr. Isaac Ibralhim, a volunteer teacher assisted by Miss Jiang Peiyun, a Chinese Teacher, and Miss Claudia Asumadu, a National Service Personnel.

The schools included Sekondi College, St. John’s Senior High School, Fijai Senior High School, Ghana Senior Technical School, Arch Bishop Porter Girls Senior High School, and the Confucius center at Takoradi Technical University.

The visit granted the team the opportunity to survey the study of a foreign language in Ghana, the interest of the school in foreign language education, the impact of studying foreign languages on students, the challenges they face in foreign language education, and to pave the way for the introduction of Chinese as a second language.

After the visit, the team have become well informed about these questions and the schools also had the opportunity to interact with the Confucius Institute.
