The Ghana Association of Chinese Societies in Collaboration with the Ministry of Education and CIUCC made a donation to St. Michael Senior High School

On 24th February 2023, the Ghana Association of Chinese Societies in Collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast donated 10 computers to St.Michael’s Senior High School in Ahenkro, Kumasi.

The secretary general, Shen Hanming, expressed his gratitude to Mr. Tang Hong, the Chairman of Kaitai Group and President of the Ghana Association of Chinese Societies, and Greenhouse International (Ghana) Group Company for their strong support for this donation activity. Mr. Shen Hanming in his speech said that China has developed rapidly in the past few decades and has become a superpower in the world. At the same time, a large number of excellent enterprises have landed in Ghana, which has deeply cultivated the local market and always kept social responsibility in mind while bringing their successful experience to Ghana. He also said that the Chinese societies will continue to fulfill their social responsibilities while helping local economic development and contributing to the profound friendship between the Chinese and Ghanaian people.

Professor OU Yamei, the China director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast, promised that she will continue to strengthen the liaison and close cooperation with the Ghana Association of Chinese Societies, the Ministry of Education of Ghana, non-profit organizations, and the loving people of China and strive for more public welfare projects to be implemented in Ghana. With the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Chinese Education and Teaching in Primary and Secondary Schools, the Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast will together with other Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms make greater contributions to Chinese language teaching in Ghana and cultural exchanges between China and Ghana.

Lawyer Dweteh, the representative of the Ministry of Education of Ghana, and Nana Ahenkro Sei Opoku IV, chief of the Ahenkro in the Ashanti Region, thanked the Ghana Association of Chinese Societies and the Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Coast for their strong support for the development of education in Ghana. He spoke highly of China-Ghana relations and the contribution made by the Chinese Society to Ghana. He added that the school is in urgent need of ICT (Information And Communication Technology) course materials, and the computer donation from China has helped the school solve the urgent need and he is very grateful. The school will ensure that the students will make good use of this batch of donated materials and acquire computer expertise useful for future development.
